Am I right in thinking a chuckling Phil Goff, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the previous Labour Government, said he was happy with CIA intelligence officers being in the SAS camp in Afghanistan in response to questions about Nicky Hager’s latest book. When we did we contract out our intelligence services to the United States? And why such a swag of them? Surely China or India could do the job for half the price and half the personnel?
The Prime Minister also laughed but derisively. No rueful, compassionate smile for an apparently misguided man without credibility throwing away his life on a fool’s errands.
Let’s hope the mainstream media sorts out which sort of laughter was appropriate. It is a simple ask: were they there as contractors to the our Government or were they a figment of Mr Hager’s imagination.
